South Florida is known for sunshine, sandy beaches, slow drivers, gorgeous palm trees, world-renowned golf courses, and 15-minute thunderstorms. We’re lucky enough to call such a beautiful place home. However, one thing that never fails to put a damper on our fun is the ever-present mosquito.
Mosquitos are More Dangerous than we Think
The Zika Virus has recently brought a scare to South Florida, but the truth is that mosquito borne diseases have always been a hazard for us. In 2015 alone, there were over 2000 confirmed cases of West Nile Virus reported in the United States, 199 of them resulted in death. Although these numbers appear low in comparison to the amount of people in the United States, it’s still a devastating result of an illness that could have been prevented. The Zika Virus has only just begun showing signs of spreading in South Florida, so it’s important to get ahead of the illness and stop it before it’s too late.
A Solution is Finally Here
Since mosquitos can fly, it’s easy for them to avoid landing on surfaces that were treated with any type of poison to kill them. It’s also difficult to slow the life cycle of mosquitos because they breed so quickly. Females start mating at two days old and seeks blood 2/3 times her body weight. After she feeds, it only takes 2-3 days to digest and deposit her eggs. She repeats this for the entire two weeks of her life.
These are just a few reasons mosquitos and other flying insects have been increasingly difficult to control, until now. We’re excited to announce that Ambassador Pest Management has partnered with a new technological advance that will help rid your home and lawn of Mosquitos.
